Mini 7s Results – Area 8 (Charlestown)

Congratulations to Kilmovee boys and Charlestown girls who emerged victorious in the local Mini 7s.

They progress to play the winners from the Kiltimagh/Swinford Area.

Mini 7s Results – Westport Area (Boys)

Westport area boys Mini Sevens
A total of 16 schools were represented at the boys mini sevens for the Westport area with 14 teams taking part.

Following some wonderful games of football Knockrooskey, The Quay, Brackloon and Gaelscoil Na Cruaiche emerged from their groups to contest the semi finals with Gaelscoil Na Cruaiche and Brackloon meeting in the final.

Following the excitement of a visit from Mayo senior stars Alan Dillon and Aidan O’ Shea who signed autographs and posed for photographs we were treated to a rip roaring final.

The effort put in by both teams was amazing and extra time was needed to separate them with Gaelscoil Na Cruaiche prevailing. Both teams gave a great display and whilst the spoils went to Gaelscoil Na Cruaiche great credit must go to Brackloon who put in a brave effort.

Well done to all our participants.

A big thank you to Kilmeena GAA club for use of their facilities and to Mel Kenny and Martin Walsh for refereeing the games.

Activities will take place on grass pitches so football boots are advised.

The aim of the day is to introduce both children and teachers to rounders as it should be played, according to official GAA rules

Click here for rules and coaching manual.

We hope to run Cumann na mBunscol competitions/blitzes this coming spring. These will be run along similar lines to our football competitions i.e. organised locally, with areas coming together for county semi-finals and finals. We will need a teacher in each of our areas to co-ordinate a local blitz.

If you are willing to volunteer to organise rounders in your area, please let me know.

I hope you all have a very enjoyable day!

Le meas,

Danny Charlton

Mini 7s Results – Ballinrobe Area

The annual Ballinrobe area Mini 7s football competition was held recently in Kilmaine Community Grounds. Thirteen schools in total were represented on the day. The standard of Gaelic football on view once again was exceptional – thanks in no small measure to the good coaching work being done in our schools.
