Tom Higgins Cup 2017

We are delighted to hold the inaugural Tom Higgins Perpetual Cup for Rounders on October 20th, 2017 in Breaffy GAA Club (entry form below).

We are very grateful to Mr Tom Higgins, former principal of Breaffy NS, Castlebar:

I was principal of Breaffy N. S. in 1980 when the new GAA game, Irish Rounders was introduced into the Community Games. Through Breaffy Community Games I trained both a boys’ and a girls’ under twelve teams that year. In the  National Finals the girls won a silver medal, and the boys a bronze medal. In the following years we always succeeded in getting to the national finals and won medals every year. I am delighted to see that Breaffy has kept up the tradition of rounders, and I follow their success with interest. In order to further promote the game in Mayo primary schools, it is with pleasure that I sponsor a perpetual cup for the annual competition.

Mr Higgins will present the new cup to our county champions on October 20th.
