Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Maigh Eo 2014 Launch

Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Maigh Eo 2014 Launch

Sunday, March 16th Elverys McHale Park Castlebar.

In what promises to be a very busy weekend, Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Maigh Eo will hold their official launch for the 2014 football and hurling activities on Sunday, March 16th. A full list of our dates and fixtures is available on our website here.

Children from 4 schools around the county (St Colman’s, Derrinabroc, St Attracta’s, Charlestown, Scoil Raifteirí, Castlebar and Crimlin NS, Castlebar) will participate in a Go Games exhibition during halftime of the senior football clash of Mayo and league toppers, Cork.  This is a great opportunity for these 22 children to showcase the skills they have learned from their teachers and coaches in school throughout the year.

Our football Mini 7s competitions are now at the quarter final stages and we hope to hold our finals on March 28th in the Connacht Centre of Excellence in Bekan. Our Hurling Mini 7s blitzes take place over the next two weeks, full details here.

After Easter, our divisional competitions will be in full swing, culminating in our county finals during the first two weeks of June.

Cumann na mBunscol is an inclusive organisation that welcomes all primary school children regardless of creed, ethnic background or gender. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive organisation and on the promotion on participation and fair play. Throughout each year, children participate in a range of activities including: Football, Hurling/Camogie, Rounders, Handball and Sports table-quizzes. We are hugely indebted the the volunteerism of our teachers and coaches which make our games such a success every year. We are also very thankful to Allianz Ireland for their sponsorship of our activities.

You can keep up to speed will all of our activities on our website and on Twitter: @MayoCnmB

Westport Hurling in Schools

The Westport GAA Club hosted the recent series of ‘Hurling in the Schools’ days where primary school children from the area were invited to take part in a series of coaching and games at the Westport GAA Club. In total over seventy children from Gaelscoil na Cruaiche, Scoil Phadraig, Knockrooskey NS and Brackloon NS took part. The group are pictured here at a recent blitz in Westport GAA Astropark along with club coach Pat Ryan, assisted by Transition Year students from Rice College – Paul Duffy, Niall McManamon, Jack Carroll and Fergal Sammon.
