Feile na nGael 2018

The National U14 Hurling & Camogie Feile na nGael competition will be hosted by Connacht GAA on the weekend 10th June 2018. All hurling and camogie clubs in Connacht are invited to be part of this event. It is planned that Castlebar Mitchels Camogie Club will be a host club for Feile na nGael, and will have a visiting team staying within the club for the weekend festival of hurling.

In preparation for this, the Castlebar Mitchels Camogie Club are looking to recruit new players for 2018 who wish to be part of this momentous National event. It is expected that over 120 hurling teams and over 60 camogie teams will take part in Feile na nGael all over Connacht, in what is the largest underage GAA event on the calendar.

Players born in 2004, 2005 and 2006 are our target audience, and we welcome all four schools within our catchment area to today’s event. We thank all teachers for your promotion of hurling and camogie within your school thus far and look forward to working with you in the future. We hope you enjoy todays event.

For further information on joining for Feile na nGael contact Castlebar Mitchel’s Camogie Coach Mary Kennedy on 087-9018855.

Castlebar Mitchels Host Eugene O’Shea Schools’ Club Tournament

The Breaffy Sports Arena was the venue for the inaugural Eugene O’Shea Memorial Hurling Tournament for hurling school in the Castlebar Mitchels Hurling catchment area. Four schools took part on the day with over sixty boys taking part in the unique indoor hurling event.

Tony Stakelum (Castlebar Mitchels Hurling Chairman) congratulated all four teams involved and thanked the teachers for their support of the event. He also thanked referee Conall O’Donnaill and local schools coordinator Kevin O’Boyle for his work in launching the blitz day. Due to the success of the event, it is hoped that the Eugene O’Shea Memorial Cup will be an annual event in the Castlebar Mitchels coaching calendar.
