Area 6 – South Mayo Mini 7s Report

The annual South Mayo Mini 7s football competition was held in Kilmaine Community Grounds on Thursday, November 7th. Despite the challenging weather conditions fourteen schools in total were represented on the day. The number of girls’ teams was particularly high this year – maith sibh, a chailíní! The standard of Gaelic football on view once again was very high – thanks in no small measure to the good coaching work being done in our schools.

Well done to the girls from Kilmaine N.S. and to The Neale N.S. boys who emerged victorious in the end. These teams will compete against the winners of the Claremorris area competition in February 2014.

Many thanks to all who participated in this year’s Mini 7s and to everyone who helped out on the day, especially our referees Ger Canny and Martin Costello. Míle buíochas daoibh uilig go léir!

• Belmullet NS proposes that every consecutive North Mayo Final in which they are involved be played in Belmullet
• Breaffy NS, Ballina proposes that Girls Division 1 play 13-a-side games

Hopefully our AGM should be no longer than 45 minutes and our activities meeting a bit less!
