A crowd of over 10,000 people witnessed the first of our Spring Exhibitions in McHale Park on Saturday night. While the home crowd may have left feeling a little disappointed at the result of the senior game, the same could not be said for the children of four Mayo schools who took to the field at half time.
A light frost was beginning to cover the grass as the players of Monaghan and Mayo left the field for their well earned halftime break.
The large crowd were then treated to two excellent displays of football and hurling by the children of Newport, Currabaggan, Behy and Barnacarroll.
There was some great action as the young players showed off the skills they’ve been learning in their schools and clubs. The future of Mayo GAA is very bright indeed!
Huge thanks as always to Billy McNicholas, Adrian Hession and the team of Mayo GAA coaches who were out in full force on the night to help out with setting up pitches and umpiring.
Our next Exhibition will be for the visit of Roscommon on Feb 25th, another Saturday night under lights, when we will hold our first ever rounders exhibition!
